From The State, March 1, 2010:

A Florence County member of the S.C. House of Representatives was arrested Thursday morning, charged with seven counts of failing to file a state tax return on nearly $2 million in personal and business income, according to court documents.

Rep. Kris Crawford, a Republican, was being held in the Florence County jail pending a bond hearing.

Crawford said prior to his arrest this week that he has paid all of his state taxes and said the problem stemmed from an accountant who failed to file paper-work by deadline. The seven mis-demeanor charges each carry a punishment of up to a year in prison, up to a $10,000 fine and court costs.
